BECKTON TABLE TENNIS CLUB NO.1 FOR TABLE TENNIS. The best facilities at the lowest price in East London!
Stephen Timms, MP officially opened the club on 26th July 2000. The club is open to everyone of all age groups. The club is based at St. Marks centre in Tollgate Road.
The club originally had help from Age Concern Millennium Awards. These awards, which are run by Age Concern and funded by the Millennium Commission with proceeds from the National Lottery, are designed for projects which bring different generations together.
The timings are as follows:
Saturdays: 11:00am - 1:00pm at St Marks Centre, see below for map (Timings may vary on Saturday, please confirm by telephone). Please note the first Saturday of the month is closed. The price is £3.00 per session.
Langdon School, Sussex Road, East Ham E6:
Tuesday,Thursday and Friday: 7:15pm - 9:15pm
Sunday: 10:30am - 12:30pm

Table Tennis has several inherent advantages that mark it out as an obvious sport for anyone to take up. It is fun, can be played in a relatively small area and is enjoyed by players from ages 8 to 80+.
Table tennis is one of the world's largest indoor participation sports. It is a full olympic sport, and it can be played as a highly athletic and exciting competitive activity or as a relaxing and healthy recreation. It is a truly a sport for all people. Fitness combines easily with fun in table tennis; playing styles can be varied to suit each person's qualities and personality. Depending on your degree of commitment, table tennis can offer anything from a full time vocation to a light-hearted pastime, whichever your choice, fuller study of the game will lead to quicker progress.
THE SPORT ITSELF:
MASS PARTICIPATION- The nature of the sport lends itself to mass participation.
EASY TO LEARN- New players improve quickly, and this rapid learning curve brings the personal rewards of early success, which we all need when embarking upon a new challenege. Early success is especilally important for children.
SPORT FOR LIFE- Table tennis is a genuine 'sport for life' children as young as five are now being introduced to the sport in the school curriculum through BT TOP sport. It is common to find over 80's performing at a competitive level!
ACCESSIBLE- Table tennis is easy for disabled people to play. Amended rules are availble for wheelchair players.
SAFE- Players are relatively injury free- table tennis is a non-contact sport.
FUN- Table tennis is fun, fast and exciting to play.
FAST- Table tennis is the most fastest racket sport in the world, in terms of rate of shot.
SPIN- At the top level, players can spin the ball to rotate 180 times per second.
FITNESS- The sport invloves a lot of movement from the every part of your body.
SPECTATOR SPORT- At the elite level, table tennis is tremendously exciting to watch 'smash and lob' exhibition rallies are incredible.
